New Year, New Love

New Year, New Love

Ginger was finally over the single life, traveling the world by herself, meeting men of all races and cultures and enjoying endless freedom.  Sometimes that freedom was quite lonely.  And sometimes it wasn’t freedom at all.

He’s loved me since the time he met me.  Is it time to finally let him in?

But her life was not her own.  Their lives were not their own.  They were often sent in two opposite directions just to find each other again, sometimes as partners and often times by accident.

How did he always know when I was in trouble and how is it possible that he is there every time to save me?

It’s common that work partners fall in love.  After all, they go through the toughest of situations together and they spend the most time together.  What spouse could compete with that?

As the sun rose on the Eiffel Tower this New Year’s morn, she stared out into the distance from their rooftop balcony.  The air was brisk as she pulled her plush robe tighter around her waist.  The warm cappuccino added warmth to her hands and heart.   As she looked back through the French doors into their room, she smiled as she watched him sleep.  She was glad she had said yes to Paris even if it was only for a few days.  They both needed the escape, the chance to be off the radar.

Her gaze once again fell to the beautiful, emerald-cut diamond now perched perfectly on her left hand.  Richard had proposed last night and although she had said yes, she had her doubts.  How would this change things?  They would need to keep this secret from the powers that be.   It was against the rules and they both knew what that could mean.  Still, she was happier than she’d ever been before.   I guess it was time.  It was time to embrace a love she could no longer deny, with a man who knew her better than she knew herself and loved her enough to continually sacrifice his life for her on an ongoing basis.

Yes, it’s time.  “Richard, my love” she whispered, “I am yours forever….”

Spread the love
